Glenwood Roller Rink

This place needs to be remodeled with better more professional staff. And also they have an employee there named Calvin Small who is a notorious thief, I mean known for stealing from them AND costumers, but he's still well affiliated with this business in good standard. Says alot about the business inner workings and why the situation is the way it is with so many truthful bad reviews. Terrible. If you go there watch your belongings.

First of all, the air was horrible when I walked in. It smells super old and smoky. I even saw molds or water damage on ceiling. Facility was super outdated so it’s not giving pleasant vibes. Only good thing was $5 for renting a pair of roller skates. However, they might not be in good shapes since the rink itself is so old. Party pricing was very confusing and the goodie bag was bag of plastic with unhealthy candies. Pizza was fine but do not even expect standard services.. such as plates, cups and napkins. Plastic juice pints did not look clean at all. Roller skating itself is definitely fun but come on..

This place was a jewel back in 99....but here it is 23 years later and it is a complete disappointment. The ceiling tiles are stained and falling apart in the bathrooms and skate rental sucks because they don't have certain sizes. What would solve the skate rental issue is to have each person turn in one of their shoes...this would ensure that the guests aren't just holding on to the skates and not skating. Or, even worse walking out the door with them. It was super packed when we arrived so it is truly believe that certain sizes were unavailable. But, here it is an hour and 15 minutes after arriving and a lot of people have left, but there is still no availability for skates in size 11 and 12 for the men who need them or want to skate. Glenwood Roller Rink do better!!! Stop living in the past, update, fix the old school bathrooms and ceiling tiles. And for goodness sakes start taking 1 SHOE from every guest who gets a skate rental this will ensure the walking away with skates or just holding them for hostage...just because they can. How do you stop push back...put it on your website (if you have one) and post signage in the hallway coming in, at the door upon entering and outside the skate rental area. I hosted an alumni event and was quite disappointed. It was a complete disaster. I hired my own DJ and Camera crew. I expressly mentioned that ahead of time. However, the rink seem like they had their own ideas in mind. Not only was my DJ not allowed to plug into their system, I also rented skates for everyone in my party and many of the skate were mixed match and those in my party complained about that and told me that alone made skating difficult. My family and I own our own skates and didn't experience that. However, We did experience the attitude from the Glenwood Skating rink staff. Additionally, they accept cash only and do not accept debit, credit, apple pay or any kind of card or digital payments and that is a huge inconvenience for patrons. If you Zelle them they still will charge you fees. To add insult to injury, they ran out of food and the drinks were watered down. That combined with the attitudes of the staff made me and those in my party to cut the party short and leave. Moreover the staff was very hostile to the youth in our party. The lady that scheduled my party was not the friendliest and was extremely rude to some of the older teenage guests who were simply trying to take their skates back. The manager seemed to try to accommodate on my fees but with a staff that doesn't seem to care about the patrons and have such a bad attitude, being a nice manager is over shadowed by the unfriendly and I will even go on to call it a hostile environment. I am highly disappointed and believe I should be refunded my money. I truly don't understand how they stay open. As a business owner myself, I am all for supporting local businesses especially Black owned ones. However, this one is a huge disappointment. 😔.

First thing I want to say after reading a few comments. This is NOT a BLACK OWNED establishment. This place is owned by a white man with rude black staff. I planned my son 6th birthday party here only because Lynwood wasn’t available and I wish I didn’t. This rink is extremely outdated, the staff was rude. When I planned the party we were told plates, pizza, cups, and table cloths set up came with the price we paid. We ran out of cups so I asked the staff member for a few more. These kids are 3-5 they don’t know about keeping up with paper cups. The staff member had a attitude and said “we can’t give yall more cups you only get 10 so I offered to pay for the cups and she still told me no then came back and said it will be .50 per cup. After all of that the lady had the nerve to ask me for a cupcake after we sung happy birthday to my son. In my eyes you’re rude and now you’re begging. The carpet smells like old feet, water stains everywhere, paint is peeling they need to close down and remodel because it’s giving “struggling to stay afloat”. Then the lady that planned my party really sat at the front door and argued with me about one extra person coming in after I told her I will pay the extra $10. The pizza was hard and all the drinks were flat We were told we had to go at 4:30. The party planner came in at 4:15 saying we need to get all of our stuff out because the next party arrived early and they needed to clean up. This is all from an adult point of view. However, the kids didn’t noticed what the adults noticed so of course they had a great time skating but we will NOT be back. It was a waste of time, energy and money for me.

Giving this business 1 star is being generous. Customer service is bad! They won't be open for business much longer. Read the recent reviews. They get off by being mean-spirited. I attended my kids' daycare 20th year anniversary celebration here. Management stopped the celebration right in the middle of the raffle and made everybody leave with their raffle tickets in their hands 8 minutes before the raffle was supposed to be over.. the daycare wasn't allowed just 8 minutes to finish giving out gifts to all the families that came. Over 150 people left disappointed. A Miss K said that her boss told her to put us out before the next party started. Bogus!!!
